Student Spotlight: Cindy

Cindy loves to pole dance and works hard! You have probably seen her in a class with you as she takes as many as she can! She is strong and a beautiful performer and we love having Cindy at UV!

Q: How did you start pole dancing?

I had neck pain and was seeing a chiropractor for a long time. Eventually, the chiropractor said there was nothing else that she could try. Improving upper body strength was the only way to better support my body. So I tried going to the gym, but it was too repetitive and boring. By chance, I saw a special on pole classes and gave it a try. Looking great and doing cool tricks gave me a lot of instant gratification. It was a fun way to exercise. And it worked! No more neck pain in less than a year! The rest, as they say, is history.


Q: Why do you love pole?

I love the mix of characters that I meet through pole. People from different backgrounds come together to learn something new and bring in their own flavours and skills. They inspire me to work harder and explore more.

Q: What is your favourite song/genre to dance to?

My taste changes depending on mood, but that's one of the best things about pole. You can do it in so many different styles and with different vibes.


Q: Any advice to students new to pole?

Learn a bit of everything. Pole requires strength, flexibility, handstand techniques and choreography. Training all those skills will help you pole better and safer.
